No.34 Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation(CETC),also known as Guilin Institute of Optical Communications(GIOC),founded in 1971 in Chengdu ,and then,moved to Guilin in 1975.As the earliest institute engaged in optical communications in China, GIOC enjoys much technical superiority such as the combination of optiacal&electricity, optical fiber communication&air communication,optical device & optical communication system, R&D and manufacture.Futhermore,it owns powerful ability of investigation and innovation of science and technology, capacity of researching,development and manufacturing for optical communication tecnology and products. Besides , it has stronger comprehensive strength in design and construction of various optical fiber communication engineering.

   GIOC is the first degree design enterprise of national electronic system engineering ,the second degree construction enterprise of communication engineering, the Advanced enterprise of Technology Revitalization & the Civilized enterprise in GuangXi Zhuang Autonomous Region ,etc.It was certified to ISO9000 (2000) and GJB 9001A-2001 in 2003.

    GIOC has assumed various scientific research mission and important national scientific research items since it was founded.In 1978, it successfully undertaken the first domestic1.8Km outdoor optical fiber communication test circurity which was a landmark of Chinese optical fiber communication.Up to now, GIOC has obtained more than 500 achievements,and developped optical communication equipments,optical network equipments and other equipments for special purpose which stand at the international advanced level.Futhermore, GIOC has undertaken over 500 optical fiber communication practical engineering for army,public security,transportation ,telecommunication ,broadcast televison ,mills and mines, etc. Five of them were awarded with natioal model project prizes and more than 200 won all kinds of prize.
